Simulation as an Instructional Approach
There is now more research than ever before describing and explaining learning styles and instructional methods and approaches best suited for the most effective learning transfer.
Instructional simulation can be defined as “instruction that simulates the critical elements of a real-life context to approximate the complexity surrounding the skill to be learned or the understanding to be gained” (Reigeluth & Carr-Chellman, 2009, p. 36). Instructional simulations are meant to recreate real-life scenarios and provide learners with advanced hands-on application. In addition, simulations provide more than simple feedback depending on the course of action chosen by the learner.
